Hello there!

I am very happy and excited to write for Suite101! Writing is one of my passions and I am looking forward to writing about many different topics. I was born in Brazil and I am now in the process of becoming Canadian! I have lived in lots of places so far in my 35 years of life. In Brazil, I was born and lived in Brasilia, then lived in Manaus, Florianopolis, Sao Paulo, Recife, and Rio de Janeiro. In the U.S.A., I lived in Cincinnati, OH, Boston, MA, Tallahassee, FL, and Austin, TX. And now, I live in beautiful Canada and I love my life. I spent many years in school getting several degrees: B.S. in Biology, B.A. in Philosophy, and M.A. in Biochemistry, only to realize much later that learning from real life is where the secret lies for a happy and fulfilling life. I was also trained in flute performance in Cambridge, MA and have played in many ensembles and orchestras.

Currently, I work as a freelance writer for Suite101, for 'The Examiner,' and my blog will be launched Summer 2011: http://www.teawithmommy.com ; meanwhile, you can LIKE my Facebook page and if you are into twitter like me, checkout my pages: http://twitter.com/helenavan and Tea with Mommy I also have another very important job, which is to take care of my awesome 4-year-old and 1.5yr old sons, alongside my wonderful husband.

Oh, by the way, another passion of mine is education. Since we are going to homeschool our boys, you can expect lots of interesting posts on this topic. I also like to explain science concepts to non-science people! So lots of very interesting articles coming your way!

Thank you for stopping by! Come often and check out my writing! Tchau
